Polyethylene pipes are produced through the extrusion of polyethylene granule (PE80 or PE100). The water transport pipes are black-homogeneous and opaque and are marked with blue strips (for water), offset at 90 °. Polyethylene pipes have a smooth interior and exterior surface, are flexible and resistant to outside temperatures up to -30 ° C.

These have many areas of use, out of which we specify:

The joining using head to head fittings is the most common form of permanent joining technology used. The principle of this method is based on the fusion phenomena. Basically, it takes place the heating of the surfaces that are to be joint for a certain period of time. Afterwards, the two surfaces are pressed one on top of the other, at a certain pressure and for a specified period of time so that the melted material fusions and leads to one structure. This phase is followed by a cooling phase.    

Thus, the welding parameters are time, pressure and temperature. These depend on the basic material of the pipes (fittings) and the standard dimension ratio (SDR) and are made available by the producers of welding machines.

Although this is not a complicated procedure, there are some extremely important aspects that need to be taken into consideration among which:

  • Perfect aligning of the elements that will be joint;
  • Clean the joining surfaces, remove especially greases ;
  • Follow the welding parameters (time, pressure, temperature);
  • Cooling needs to be done natural.

In order to do a head to head welding are used manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding machines, and this welding needs to be done by well-trained personnel.

The compression fittings offered by Teraplast are manufactured in the dimensional range 20 – 110mm, having a relatively large usage.  .

The most common field of use for compression fittings is to troubleshoot faults that occur in the water networks. Their use is possible even for indoor installations and technological pipelines. It is often used in the area between the mains connection and the building. We recommend paying special attention to the fittings used to make the connections (refer to the components part of this range).

Joining with compression fittings is the easiest of the polyethylene pipe joining technology. This technique makes it possible to execute with an increased and very economical yield hundreds of meters of pipe network, especially the one delivered in coils.

PE100 electrofusion and injection fittings

The welding using this type of fittings became more and more popular due to the extremely easy and fast process but also due to the high quality of the welding. In general this is used in the gas distribution networks.

Electrofusion fittings are injection-moulded and contain a calibrated electrical resistance inside the interior wall. Welding with such fittings has become increasingly used as a result of the extremely simple and fast procedure but also of the superior joint quality. In general this is used in the gas distribution networks.

Practically, in these connections, the energy that is generated in the electrofusion fitting coils heats the material on the interior surface of the fitting and the exterior of the pipe after it has been inserted into the fitting. As a result of temperature and pressure increase between the two surfaces, the two masses of melted material flow together and it takes place their fusion phenomenon. Each of the fusion areas is provided with an indicator made in the fitting wall that is pushed out during the fusion process. This is also the first visual proof that the welding process has been carried out.

In the case of welding with electrofusion fittings, the parameters used are temperature and time. The parameters are printed on the product label and read automatically by the electrofusion device. Although it is an even easier procedure than the traditional welding process, some important aspects have to be taken into account:

  • proper cutting of the pipe ends and marking the length of the insertion in the fitting;
  • scraping the outer surfaces of the elements that will be joined to remove the oxidized superficial layer from their surface;
  • cleaning the joining surfaces of foreign bodies and especially greases with special solvents;
  • cooling needs to be done naturally according to the time marked on the fitting label.

In order to do electrofusion welding is used an automatic welding machines with barcode reader and the realization of this welding requires well-qualified personnel.

Water meter boxes are meant to ensure the necessary protection space for the meters in order to register the individual home consumption and the building consumption.   

Besides the role of thermal insulation and protection of the water supply system elements from external factors: earth charge, water infiltration, water meter boxes must facilitate the access for water meters reading. 

The estimated life expectancy of these types of houses is 50 years under the conditions of an appropriate installation and exploitation. From the dimensional point of view, Teraplast manufactures water meters boxes for individual pipe connections with a box diameter of 500mm and a collective pipe connections with a diameter of 1000mm. 

The water meter boxes are made compact and single block from polyethylene through rotation moulding process. They are made up of two basic elements:

  • the box body;
  • the box cover.

The box bodies are produced in two constructive options for each diameter. Boxes with D = 500mm are produced with heights of 800mm and 1200mm respectively and can be delivered either thermally insulated or non-thermally insulated

Boxes with D = 1000mm are produced with heights of 1200mm and respectively 1500mm. In order to provide an increased mechanical strength, the wall of the box body is reinforced with vertical and horizontal ribs. A 100% tightness is ensured when the pipes pass through the box body.  

The cover, made of polyethylene, has an air cushion for thermal insulation. Following the tests carried out, the lid provides a high degree of tightness:   

  • vertical water jet (rain) – tightness 100%;
  • angled water jet (heavy rain) – infiltration max. 200ml.

Upon the request of its customers, Teraplast has also developed a new type of water meter box with an anti-burglary cover. The available variants that are presented below include water meter screens both in the non-equipped version (without the water meter installation) and in the equipped version

PVC pipes and fittings are produced through extrusion respectively injection of hard PVC granules unplasticized combined with dyes, fillers, stabilizers and friction additions.

The pipes are grey or blue with their smooth interior and exterior surface and are provided with couplings to secure the joint.

Unlike PVC-U pipes for sewage, in this case the joining is done through gluing. The water temperature recommended in PVC-U pressure systems is between 20 ° C and 40 ° C. Temperatures of 60 ° C are also allowed for short periods of time.

PVC-U pressure pipes and fittings have many areas of use out of which we mention the following:

  • drinking water distribution networks for domestic and industrial consumers;
  • irrigation networks and water management;
  • industrial liquid transportation .

The PVC-U pressure pipe and fitting system, offered by Teraplast, is a complete and varied system that includes grey and blue pipes manufactured in pressure ranges of PN6, PN10 and P16 bars.

The system is complemented by a wide range of PVC pressure fittings that enable the installation of water distribution systems in both the buried version and the indoor water distribution systems or industrial liquids.

From a dimensional point of view, Teraplast range of PVC-U pressure pipes diameters vary between 32 and 400mm.

HYDRAULIC FEATURES

The remarkable hydraulic features of the PVC pipe system and fittings are determined by the possibility to produce extremely thin internal walls (<0.01mm), which means 10 times lower compared to other pipes made of materials other than plastic . Thus, the flow speed and obviously the flow rate is higher compared to steel pipes and the pressure losses are minimized.

The drilling system developed by Teraplast contains the tubing pipes and the filtration elements made from PVC-U. Teraplast drilling system with pipes and PVC100 filtration elements is used to tube the pits for water supply and epuisment drilling or piezo pits. The drilling pipe are manufactured through PVC extrusion and are blue – RAL5012. They have a smooth interior and exterior surface and are foreseen with sockets to injure pipe coupling.

The drill pipe system is produced in three classes of wall thicknesses: P8 (SDR13,6), P10 (SDR21), P16 (SDR26) corresponding to PN8, PN10 and PN16 pressure ranges.
