The sound absorbing interior sewage system PP ULTRA dB is a complete pipe and fittings system in polypropylene enriched with mineral compounds. The pipes are manufactured through the co-extrusion method with structured walls: the interior layer coloured in white, allows easy inspection and the exterior layer coloured in blue is resistant to dirt and is foreseen with permanent marking at every centimetre. The fittings are done by injection.     

The excellent properties of raw materials: high impact resistance, resistance to chemical substances and high temperatures, high sealing, reduced weight and easy installation are the reason why the products in polypropylene enhanced with mineral compounds have become more and more popular.   

The PP ULTRA system series includes diameters of 50, 75, 110 and 160mm. 



The high level of soundproofing due to the structural walls in polypropylene (PP) with mineral compounds, the noise level of 16 dB, confirmed by tests performed at Fraunhofer Institute in Stuttgart, in accordance with DIN 4109-10 standard, the third grade of soundproofing is consistent for buildings with permanent residents


Resistant to aggressive fluids with pH values between 2 and 12.


High thermal resistance for fluids with a permanent temperature of 900C, with short term temperature peaks of 950C. 


High mechanical resistance for temperatures up to -100C – thus it can be installed in winter weather conditions. High pipe resistance to compression and impact as well as the possibility to be installed inside and under the structure, in soil or in concrete, due to the minimum ring stiffness of 4kN/m2 (area of applicability BD – class S16).    


Easy and efficient installation of the system due to the measurement scale applied for pipes - the pipes can be cut into pieces with any length. Very easy joining methods due to the gaskets installed in the factory in the wide range of fittings.


Very good hydraulic features for wastewater flow due to the protection of the perfectly smooth interior surface that does not allow the accumulation of deposits.


The sound absorbing interior sewage system PP ULTRA dB is used for installations without pressure, sound absorbing sanitation systems, for rainwater and industrial drainage.   

The system is used to channel extremely aggressive discharges, industrial and urban wastewater (effluents with pH between 2 and 12), including hydrogen sulphide and is also characterised by a high resistance to effluents with high temperatures.   

Due to its benefits, the Ultra dB system is not recommended only for homes but also for sewage systems in apartment buildings, office spaces, offices, hotels, restaurants, dorms, SPAs, laboratories, dental cabinets, surgery rooms, schools, university classrooms, libraries, radio and television studios, concert and conference halls, theatres, shops. It is used to transport effluents from the pharmaceutical industry, the food industry and the catering industry (for example when there are effluents with high content of fats and the recommended temperature is up to 70°C).

The PP internal sewage systems were among the first modern plastic systems that have entered on the Romanian market after 1990. The new system with PP pipes and fittings with socket and gasket brought a major change especially due to simple installation but also due to the physicochemical properties of the polypropylene. 

Polypropylene is a thermoplastic synthetic resin with a lower density than polyethylene but, with a higher mechanical strength, a higher melting point and a better dimensional stability. It is a colourless and translucent thermoplastic product with good mechanical, dielectric and electrical insulation properties as well as with a high resistance to chemical agents.    

The PP pipes and fittings system with socket and gasket is used especially for internal sewage and ventilation systems. The high resistance to corrosion and to chemical agents recommends this system not only for residential use but also for industrial use in the chemistry or pharmaceutical industry.

The maximum temperature of the wastewater transported through the PP pipe systems is up to 95°C for short periods of time.

PP pipes and fittings are produced through extrusion, namely through the injection of PP granules mixed with dyes, filling materials, stabilizers and friction additions.

The sealing is done using synthetic rubber gaskets with a long lifetime, which are mounted in the profiled element of the pipe and fittings’ socket. The sealing is ensured even in case of pipe deformation within acceptable limits or in case of its movement. The pipes and the fittings are delivered with gasket.  

The estimated lifetime of the PP pipes and fittings system is of minimum 50 years.

The PP internal sewage system offered by Teraplast is a complete and diversified pipes and fittings system manufactured in accordance with SR-EN 1451-1/2 and SF98/2017. 

In what concerns the size, the range of diameters for the PP pipes and fittings offered by Teraplast varies between 32 and 125 mm for pipes and between 32 and 160 mm for fittings

Features and advantages of the PP pipes and fittings system for internal sewage 


PP pipes and fittings have a high resistance to both high temperatures (60°C run up to 95°C for short periods of time) and low temperatures (up to -15°C).


Both the PP pipes and fittings have a high chemical resistance to most aqueous solutions, to the aggressive action of caustic substances or of aqueous acid solutions. Thus, PP pipes and fittings can be used to transport basic or acid aqueous solutions, mineral salts, etc. that have the pH between 2 and 12. Therefore, PP pipes and fittings are resistant to the detergents in the water from the washing or dishwashing machines.     


The gaskets used for pipes and fittings are made from elastomeric material that guarantees a long-lasting resistance even in harsh conditions.  


Given that water in suspension may contain different types of particles, abrasion resistance needs to be taken into consideration for pipes and fittings. The PP system ensure a high resistance to abrasion even in harsh conditions due to the interior walls that are extremely smooth. 


This is an important feature especially for buildings that are subject to vibrations or that are located in areas with high seismic risk. This feature is due mainly to the socket and gasket joining that also works as an expansion compensator. 


Shock resistance is optimal at normal temperatures. This resistance is valid even at low temperatures.


The low weight of the components that are part of the PP pipes and fittings systems ensures an extremely high manoeuvrability in terms of transport, storage and components handling as well as its installation. Likewise, the gaskets ensure an easy and tight joining of the components, that allows a fast installation. For a fast installation is recommended to lubricate the gasket and the end of the pipe that will be provided with a socket.   


Components joining

One of the main features of the PP system is the possibility of an extremely fast joining, exclusively by hand, between the components using sealing gaskets. All the components (pipes and fittings) are foreseen with socket and gasket.  

This simple way of joining excludes completely the use of adhesives or the pipe heating to ensure the joining.

Before installation, will be verified the gaskets for all the pipes and fittings as well as any other flaws. In case sand or other solid materials are discovered inside the pipes or the fittings (due to outside storage) and their sediment on the gaskets, these will be removed, cleaned and re-installed to ensure a tight and reliable sealing.   

At installation, the end of the pipe that is not provided with a socket will be introduced in the socket of the pipe that was prior installed. The flow direction is from the end of the pipe that has a socket towards the end of the pipe that is not provided with the socket.

The pipes are foreseen with a chamfer. The pipes that will be delivered to the site will be cut at a 90° angle compared to the horizontal axis and afterwards the cut will be deburred and then with the help of a rasp will be made a new chamfer at 15° angle.    

ATTENTION! It is forbidden to shorten the fittings because they will no longer ensure a proper joining.

After you make sure that the gasket is properly positioned in the socket, lubricate the gasket and the end without socket that will be joint using a special lubricant. Make sure that the two elements that will be joint are properly aligned.

PVC pipes for internal sewers

PVC pipes for interior sewage are obtained through extrusion, in accordance with the provisions of the SF77 standard.

For pipe joining in PVC installations is recommended the use of PVC fittings due to their high chemical resistance and reliability. It is possible to join PVC installation to metal or other material installations due to the related crossing fittings.

The interior sewage PVC pipes offered by TeraPlast are provided automatically with sockets on the production line and are chamfered in order to facilitate the installation and to protect the rubber gasket. Pipe joining network joining is done fast and easy with the help of sockets with seal elastomeric rings, the installation being done as follows:   
  1. Is verified the perpendicular position of the cut on the pipe axis as well as the chamfer quality.
  2. The parts that need to be assembled (gasket, pipe and/or fitting) are carefully cleaned of abrasive impurities.
  3. The rubber ring is automatically introduced into the pipe socket with the “V” shape side towards the interior.
  4. The pipe/fitting end is lubricated on is entire circumference.
  5. The elements are joint through longitudinal push. This installation will be fixed with collar immediately under the socket.

Floor drains are used as the focal point of floor drainage. In order to obtain a satisfying result the plumber needs to coordinate with the architect, the constructor, the tiler, etc. Therefore, we recommend you to take into consideration the following starting from the design phase


The answer to the question how is the siphon ultimately used is decided when the drainage system is designed. In general, the floor drain is different for permanent use (for example in the shower) and occasional use (as safety drain in the bathroom).

Odour control

There is one thing that has to be avoided at the floor drains that are rarely used: the odour that comes from the drainage system. A classic solution is to use a floor drain with an additional inlet (HL300, HL304). A sanitary appliance used regularly (for example the sink) ensures a fresh water guard. In this case, the siphon needs to be foreseen with a backwater protector that will not allow the water in the sink to drain on the floor.

Another solution for this problem is the range of "PRIMUS" siphons from HL. These siphons are foreseen with a normal odour control device with water guard and a mechanic plug. A floating device is part of the plug. If the water guard evaporates (or it is suctioned by vacuum), the floating device sinks in the siphon and closes it.

Drainage capacity

The test procedure to evaluate the drainage capacity of floor drains is done in accordance with EN 1253-2: 2004, with 20mm of water above the grate. If the floor drain will be used for showers without protection (directly on the floor), the plumber has to make sure that that the leakage rate of the draining siphon is higher than the shower flow, to avoid water access in the dry area of the bathroom..

Hydro insulation

In order to avoid water penetration in the floor, the floor drain needs to be connected to the hydro insulation that it is executed on the spot.

Attention: Tile joints are not watertight!

In most cases waterproofing (usually with liquid compounds, brushable) is done directly under the tiles. HL floor drains are foreseen with flanges on which the plumber can install the proper hydro insulation kit. The plumber together with the tiler need to decide upon the proper kit.

Proper hydro insulation is not ensured through the application of waterproofing material directly on the flange.


The flange level needs to be above the upper level of the slab when the floor drain is installed so that there is a proper inclination for leakage. The main reason of this installation is to make sure that the water on the hydro insulation can be collected in the body of the siphon.

Attention: the height of the leaking body is not the minimum height of the slab!


Depending on taste and functionality, you can choose from different types of grates and extensions. The plumber needs to discuss in advance with the beneficiary in order to establish its preferences because it is not always possible to do subsequent changes.
