Polyethylene pipes with a polypropylene coating are pressure pipes for water supply, manufactured according to the applicable DIN and EN standards. The new material PE100-RC confers the pipe a high quality level, ensuring it a minimum 100 years service life.
The additional protective coating added to the nominal diameter is made of modified polyolefins, granting additional mechanical stiffness and protection. The PE100-RC (RC = Resistance to cracks) generation stands for high-performance material, with increased resistance to concentrated loads and cracking.
PE100-RC is indicated by the German Institute for Standardization DIN by the specification PAS 1075:2009 (”PAS” = Public Available Specification), considered to be a complement to the existing technical standards and regulations. PAS 1075:2009-04 offers a definition of the high quality level of the pipe, for which it estimates (for the first time standardized) a service life of minimum 100 years.

PE100-RC Polytube Pipes with PP enriched coating are designed for water transport and distribution systems: drinking water, natural gas, drainage and sewerage under pressure, common water use, vacuum sewer systems, water for other purposes .
The PE100-RC material has an increased resistance to concentrated loads and cracking, coming to the aid of builders and involving lower installation costs. The new pipe has an increased resistance to: wear, concentrated loads, pressure, crack propagation, corrosion, abrasion, impact.
The PE100-RC pipes show an improvement in terms of flexibility, which is maintained in time. Most of the pipeline routes, regardless of application, require direction changes, branching etc. In all situations, excepting polyethylene pipes, any deviation from collinearity, no matter how small, requires fittings, welded or mechanical joining and, implicitly, additional time and costs.
For the PE100-RC pipes with a PP coating, due to the flexibility features of the material they are made of, direction changes can be performed without any additional costs and without prejudice to the operating performance of the pipe.
The PE100-RC pipes with a PP coating protect the environment, providing execution and operation safety. As they can be easily installed by relining or bursting, the impact on the environment is minimal.
Also, the PE100-RC pipes with a PP coating give off up to five times less carbon monoxide and dioxide than steel pipes.
The PP protection system not only provides protection from UV radiation, but also from contamination during the entire handling, transportation and installation process. Moreover, the material used in making the pipes has zero interaction with the environment and the carried water. Therefore, there is no possibility that they lend any taste, odour or colour to the water. The carried drinking water stays clean and healthy.
The PE100-RC pipes with a PP coating can be installed with an open trench, without a sand bed and/or trenchless, using modern unconventional methods. Example of alternative installation techniques: by guided horizontal drilling, relining or bursting (rehabilitation of the old systems by bursting or covering).
Due to the increased resistance to cracking and crack propagation, thermal ageing, corrosion and aggressive soils, abrasion and impact, the PE100-RC pipes with a PP coating have a service life of up to 100 years.
Its light weight, the joining process made easier by head welding and its compatibility with the fittings and welding equipment existing on the market usually shorten the execution time by 35-40% as compared to other types of pipes. Even more important, the transport and labour costs are also about 10-15% less.
